Mr. Joel Griggs
Joel Studied Architecture in high school and college with a specialization in computer aided design (CAD). After developing his skills working on several contract positions, he attained his career goal of becoming a CAD Manager for Jacobs Engineering Crystal City office. He successfully maintained this position until his office closed in 2008. At this point he joined forces with his father (Richard Smith) and started taking on a managerial role within American Solar. A few years later, Richard retired and Joel took ownership of the company in 2012. Since taking control of the company Joel has been focused on creating new client relations while maintain good relations with the existing customer base. In recent years, the company has seen prosperous growth now that there has been a renewed interest in sustainable energy and a federally backed 30% tax credit. To help facilitate this movement, Joel went to California in April of 2011 and to Florida in April of 2012 and October of 2014 to participate in solar training programs to learn more about system design and the latest advancements in solar technology.
In April of 2015, Joel and his fiance Kristen bought a new home in Centreville where they plan on starting the next generation of Solar Doctors!
